FAQ's

What conditions can Exercise Physiology help with?

Exercise Physiology can help manage and improve a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Chronic diseases (e.g. diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity, osteoporosis)
  • Musculoskeletal injuries (e.g. back pain, joint issues, post-surgical rehab)
  • Mental health (e.g. anxiety, depression)
  • Neurological conditions (e.g. Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis)
  • Respiratory conditions (e.g. asthma, COPD)
  • Cancer recovery
  • Age-related functional decline
  • Disability and complex care through the NDIS
Do I need a referral to see an Exercise Physiologist?

No, a referral is not required if you're seeing an Exercise Physiologist privately. However, if you’re accessing services through Medicare (e.g. under a Chronic Disease Management Plan), DVA, WorkCover, or NDIS, you may need a referral from your GP or care coordinator.

What can I expect during an Exercise Physiology session?

Your first session will involve a comprehensive assessment of your medical history, physical capabilities, and health goals. Based on this, we’ll develop a tailored exercise plan. Ongoing sessions focus on guided, goal-oriented exercises, education, and progress monitoring to ensure your plan stays effective and safe.

How many sessions will I need?

This depends on your condition, goals, and how your body responds to exercise. Some clients benefit from a short-term plan, while others require long-term management. We’ll review your progress regularly and adjust your program as needed.

How can Exercise Physiology support elderly clients?

Exercise Physiology helps older adults maintain independence, reduce the risk of falls, improve balance, mobility, and strength, and manage age-related conditions such as arthritis, osteoporosis, and heart disease. Programs are safe, gentle, and specifically tailored to the needs of seniors.

What is NDIS Exercise Physiology, and how does it work?

NDIS Exercise Physiology is available to participants with approved funding under Improved Daily Living or Health & Wellbeing categories. Our team provides tailored, goal-driven programs to improve mobility, independence, physical function, and overall health. We work closely with participants and support coordinators to ensure outcomes align with NDIS goals.

Can Exercise Physiology help with sports injury recovery?

Yes, Exercise Physiologists are trained in developing safe rehabilitation programs post-injury to restore strength, flexibility, and function. We also focus on injury prevention, helping athletes return to sport stronger and more resilient.

What are the benefits of Exercise Physiology for spinal health?

Exercise Physiology can reduce spinal pain, improve posture, increase core strength, and enhance mobility. Whether it’s chronic lower back pain, postural dysfunction, or spinal injury recovery, we use functional, evidence-based movement strategies to support long-term spinal health.

How can Exercise Physiology help prevent future injuries?

By identifying movement patterns, muscle imbalances, or weaknesses, Exercise Physiologists create personalised programs to correct these issues. This proactive approach strengthens the body, improves mobility and coordination, and reduces the likelihood of future injuries.
